5:56 pm - good ol days ...
|
Remember when the americans were the good guys, and the people that we fought were obvisously the bad guys ... Now we have abu ghraib ...
Ah remember the good ol' days ...
Or were they?
Hint - not really. abu ghraib is just as controversal as the Janet Jackson thing.
Never had so many people been put in prison. The size of the Allied captures was unprecedented in all history. The Soviets took prisoner some 3.5 million Europeans, the Americans about 6.1 million, the British about 2.4 million, the Canadians about 300,000, the French around 200,000. Uncounted millions of Japanese entered American captivity in 1945, plus about 640,000 entering Soviet captivity. [Above: A U.S. Army soldier stands guard over thousands of German POWs at Sinzig-Remagen, spring 1945.]
As soon as Germany surrendered on 8 May 1945, the American Military Governor, General Eisenhower, sent out an "urgent courier" throughout the huge area that he commanded, making it a crime punishable by death for German civilians to feed prisoners. It was even a death-penalty crime to gather food together in one place to take it to prisoners ... The order was sent in German to the provincial governments, ordering them to distribute it immediately to local governments. Copies of the orders were discovered recently in several villages near the Rhine ... The message [which Bacque reproduces] reads in part: "... under no circumstances may food supplies be assembled among the local inhabitants in order to deliver them to the prisoners of war. Those who violate this command and nevertheless try to circumvent this blockade to allow something to come to the prisoners place themselves in danger of being shot...."
Eisenhower's order was also posted in English, German and Polish on the bulletin board of Military Government Headquarters in Bavaria, signed by the Chief of Staff of the Military Governor of Bavaria. Later it was posted in Polish in Straubing and Regensburg, where there were many Polish guard companies at nearby camps. One US Army officer who read the posted order in May 1945 has written that it was "the intention of Army command regarding the German POW camps in the US Zone from May 1945 through the end of 1947 to exterminate as many POWs as the traffic would bear without international scrutiny."
... The [American] army's policy was to starve [German] prisoners, according to several American soldiers who were there. Martin Brech, retired professor of philosophy at Mercy college in New York, who was a guard at Andernach in 1945, has said that he was told by an officer that "it is our policy that these men not be fed." The 50,000 to 60,000 men in Andernach were starving, living with no shelter in holes in the ground, trying to nourish themselves on grass. When Brech smuggled bread to them through the wire, he was ordered to stop by an officer. Later, Brech sneaked more food to them, was caught, and told by the same officer, "If you do that again, you'll be shot." Brech saw bodies go out of the camp "by the truckload" but he was never told how many there were, where they were buried, or how.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
... The prisoner Paul Schmitt was shot in the American camp at Bretzenheim after coming close to the wire to see his wife and young son who were bringing him a basket of food. The French followed suit: Agnes Spira was shot by French guards at Dietersheim in July 1945 for taking food to prisoners. The memorial to her in nearby Buedesheim, written by one of her chidren, reads: "On the 31st of July 1945, my mother was suddenly and unexpectedly torn from me because of her good deed toward the imprisoned soldiers." The entry in the Catholic church register says simply: "A tragic demise, shot in Dietersheim on 31.07.1945. Buried on 03.08.1945." Martin Brech watched in amazement as one officer at Andernach stood on a hillside firing shots towards German women running away from him in the valley below.
The prisoner Hans Scharf ... was watching as a German woman with her two children came towards an American guard in the camp at Bad Kreuznach, carrying a wine bottle. She asked the guard to give the bottle to her husband, who was just inside the wire. The guard upended the bottle into his own mouth, and when it was empty, threw it on the ground and killed the prisoner with five shots.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many prisoners and German civilians saw the American guards burn the food brought by civilian women. One former prisoner described it recently: "At first, the women from the nearby town brought food into the camp. The American soldiers took everything away from the women, threw it in a heap and poured gasoline [benzine] over it and burned it." Eisenhower himself ordered that the food be destroyed, according to the writer Karl Vogel, who was the German camp commander appointed by the Americans in Camp 8 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Although the prisoners were getting only 800 calories per day, the Americans were destroying food outside the camp gate.

2:51 am - True stories of Wal-Mart Employees...
|
A regular night at Wal-Mart. I work in the electronics department. The reason I work in the electronics department is because I asked for it. The reason I work at Wal-Mart is because I’m crazy or stupid. Really Im not sure.
Anyway back to the story about a regular night at Wally World. This is short and sweet don’t worry. And for those Wal-Mart customers out there, trust me I wont use big nasty words. Im just kidding of course. All Wal-Mart customers are geniuses in their own right. I’m serious, you customers are REALLY smart, and you always have intelligent questions. I wrote this when I was drunk, that’s how much I care about you.
All right, The story…
I receive a call in the electronics department. I pick up. I’m the only one there. Everyone is “sick” or just don’t give a shit. Anyway, a woman, probably 90 and plus years old, wants to know if we have a certain DVD. When a customer uses the word DVD, it could mean all kinds of things, it could mean an actual movie on a DVD disc, but it could also mean a DVD player, or it could mean a chair. You see, the average customer can use words, or discard words, as they please. Because it is up to me, as a Wal-Mart employee, to decode your advanced dialog techniques. I wish I was as wise as the Average Wal-mart Customer, then I would just know the meaning of your words, and know the answer to your great questions. But since Im not a genius I have to ask the customer what exactly they mean. She means a movie on DVD. Hooray!
Anyway, I ask for the title of the movie, and she, of course, responds with some sort of indecipable language. I only know one language, English. Which is my fault I know, but I can’t afford to learn another language yet.
So, I have to ask her to say the title in plain ol’ boring English.
These are the words that come out of her mouth. Swear to god.
“ A SCENT of unbelievable delight”
Yup. I never heard of that movie. And I was wondering what kind of movie that could be. I asked her to repeat herself. She repeated it again.
“A SCENT of unbelievable DELIGHT”
I told her that I never heard of such a movie. Which was the truth.
She began expressing disbelief in my answer to her. She told me that it’s the movie with Jim Carrey, and that it’s a new release.
Wait a minute. I thought.
I repeated the phrase back to her, “ A scent of unbelievable delight.” Is that what you said. She responded back, “IS that the name of the movie?” I said, “im only repeated back WHAT you said.”
I heard her mumbling something. Then she ruffled papers.
“Oh,” she said, “IT’s A series of unfortunate events”
“OH GOD” I said.
Yeah we had it. We do have that movie. But the “A SCENT of unbelievable DELITE” has not come in yet.

4:23 pm - quote i found
|
Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." Hermann Goering, President of the Reichstag, Nazi Party, and Luftwaffe Commander in Chief

A war can only be considered lost when the territory is occupied by the enemy, the leading elite of the defeated people is sentenced in war crime trials, and the conquered are subjected to a re-education program. An obvious method for this is to plant the victor's perception of history into the minds of the vanquished. It is of the utmost importance to transfer the 'moral' categories of the victorious nation's war propaganda into the conscience of the vanquished. Only if the victor's war propaganda found entry into the history books of the vanquished and is believed by the following generation, then the re-education can be considered as really successful.
New York World, Walter Lippmann (1889-1974)

W...T...F...!? It's been over a year since I bothered to write anything in this thing... I guess being a witness to one of the most ridiculous events in this country's history will make you do things.
Now come on. Most ridiculous? Thought that was last election.
Make you wanna do a lot of things actually (like moving to Australia). Too bad Canada is cold.
They won?t take Americans in those countries, or at least not without a lot of trouble on your part. The exception to the rule is Americans with huge sums of cash. They are universally accepted everywhere.
I thought I'd feel OK by today but I don't. Yesterday morning I got up pretty early to see if there were any conclusive results and there were (just not the ones I wanted). I drank three shots of Absolut to that before I left to work.
The whole ordeal left me bitter, angry and completely disillusioned. Are these people that voted for Bush for real?? Do they really know what they're doing? What have they been paying attention to for the past four years?? I've been questioning myself and my sanity. Maybe I'm the one that's wrong on the issues? Maybe I'm stupid and naive to think that mixing church and state is a bad idea? Maybe he's truly honest and has nothing but our interests in mind? Maybe he's not using fear to gain support afterall. Maybe being divided will keep this country healthy and on it's toes. Right. Right Reich.
Remember now, Germany was united under Hitler. They loved him. Women fainted in the crowds hearing his voice. He was their savior.
I don't believe in the system anymore. It's such a load of bullshit.
That?s exactly what you are supposed to think. The uber-capitalists want Americans to not believe in the system anymore. They want Americans to demand a new system, which they will devise for us.
I just wish they did a better job at keeping illusion of American going. I gotta give props to the hardcore Christians though. Have they got faith or what!? But seriously, who needs to do any campaigning when the churches do it for you?
People have different ideas on what America is. Hardcore Christians are no exception.
Ask yourselves, why in the world did Kerry win New York?!?
New York always goes to the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is.
I mean, NY knows what it's like to be attacked! If anything, they're the ones that would really benefit from Bush's protection against terrorism, right!? Ha!! It's funny to look at the red/blue color-coded map of the U.S. Fucken hillarious!! Is the heart of the country really that afraid of being attacked by terrorists!? Wow. It must be some shit they put in the water there.
What is the heart of America? New York and upper east America, or the south and the farm belt. Liberals believe they are, conservatives believe they are.
I'm glad it's all done. Fuck it and move on. I don't think I'll be paying that much attention to the news for a couple of years.
Again, exactly what they want. "Go back to your video games and pornography, you don?t really care anyway."
I have no desire to see fuckface again for a while - I figure if there's something really important going on, somebody's bound to tell me about it. But I do hope that everybody that voted for G. F?hrer gets what they deserve - that being that they see all the fucked up shit he does for the next four years clearly. I hope they remember all the things that he promised and doesn't follow through. I hope they at least wake up from their fanaticism and begin to be more tolerant. Shit, I'd settle for them knowing what "Orwellian" means!
Here in lies, one of reasons GW won. Insulting condescending attitudes to the conservatives of the red states. They saw GW as a good ol boy, not an elite smarty pants. (Funny how a rich Yale boy got that stereotype). The more he was made fun of as slow and stupid, the more they equated that to the treatment of themselves by elite smarty pants, who refer to their states as "fly over states". You can?t change someone?s mind by telling him or her they are stupid. Trust me, I?ve tried.
I'm trying to look on the bright side of this and there's not much. At least if there's another terrorist attack... nah, I'm not gonna say anything about that. One thing for sure is that there will finally be a new Nirvana - guaranteed.
Awesome, I?ve been waiting for years for a new album.
Kids, please wake them up. Thanks.
Please dare to think: http://signs-of-the-times.org/signs/signs.htm
Listen, no matter who would have won it was going to be an ol? skull and bones elite banker handjob boy. We should have voted for Nader or the libertarian guy, but we didn?t. We tried the anti-bush vote and it failed. Just my thoughts.
Thoughts on how Bush could have been beaten.
1. Never insult him. Don?t make him the underdog.
2. Never insult people who like him. That gives them the "Oh yeah?!" vote.
3. Have France and other old europe countries declare a holiday after him. Have them sing praises of him in the streets not protests. (reverse psychology)
4. Discuss Iraq as "everything is fine here", and focus on the economy only.
5. Have Kerry talk about letting veteran soldiers vote twice in the upcoming election, since their scarfices demands it. (you don?t have to agree on that, but Kerry would have won if he said that)
Just ideas.

9:38 pm - I know a criminal !!!
|
I'm friends with a crimnal. I see him everyday. He's never been to prison for the crimes he has commited because the police can't catch him. If the system could go back and archive every illegal thing he did then punish him for it; he would be in prison for the rest of his life. What has he done?
Here's a brief list.
As a minor: Countless shoplifts of candy, comic books, and other small items.
As an Adult: Underaged drinking: Saturotorary rape: sex with his 16-year girlfriend while 18. About a dozen DUIs: Driving while drunk coming home. Possesion of illegal drugs: Friends with pot catch a ride with him.
I could name more but it's pointless, it's obvious he's a criminal and has avoided justice his whole life.
He's an evil man.
I see him everyday I look into the mirror.
Guess what my point is?
We are all lucky that the system can't moniter our life perfectly and punish us for every lawbreaking action. If the system were perfect, 99% of the population would be in prison. So don't be quick to throw stones at those that do get caught.

9:07 pm - New York New York !!!

What is there to say about the capital of the world? Well it's big, it's ugly and it's beautiful all at the same time. Let's go down the checklist: Did I get mugged? No. Did I see a bum? Actually no, weird huh? Did I see the Statue of Liberty? Nope. Did I see the world trade center ruins? Ah no. Did I go to the top of the Empire State building? No I didn't. Did I ride in a horse carriage around central park? No to that too. Then what the hell did you do there? Glad you asked.
Well I did see a hooker. Yes, it was a real New York City Asian hooker. She was wearing a tight mini skirt and the clich?d fur coat top. It was fantastic. But more about that later.
What I primarily saw was a lot of terrible art. Lots and Lots and Lots. There was some good, like when I went to the MET, but mostly it was terrible. How could this City, the supposed center of the art world, have so much bad art? They take it very seriously too. They build lots of galleries there to put it on display. I couldn't believe it. I was speechless during 90% of our gallery hopping. How could these art pieces be thought to be so good? This is a true sign of the world going to hell very soon, if I ever saw one. Any one of my college paintings is better then what I saw and I think I suck! How do you explain the horror that I saw. Does no one else see this but me! This feels like the story of the Emperor's New Clothes, where the child finally yells out "The Emperor is naked!" and no one else, even the Emperor himself, would say anything because they were afraid to look stupid. It's the same in the art world apparently, everyone is afraid to say the art is bad because they don't want to look stupid. The artist (con artists/hacks) just keep feeding us shit and we don't say anything because the artist and his henchman the gallery owner tell us we are stupid if we don't like it. Well the art sucks!
Anyway gallery hopping took up most of my time, so I had barely enough time to do anything else.
First day: flew in from Tampa. Went to hotel, then started gallery hopping in the Shelsia district. That took up the whole day. Later grabbed a couple beers at a brewery pub with some other students, then walked through the rain in Times Square. Wonderful weather there in New York. Later Julia and I went by ourselves to the Rockefeller center and watched people ice-skating. We had a nice talk about America culture, Europe, Iraq, Russia and other stuff. She is from Estonia, which is a country that used to be apart of the Soviet Union. She was staying with a friend in another burrough during her trip so I escorted her home, then I got lost in the New York subway system for a couple hours trying to get home. I didn't see any bums or muggers the whole time. Geez.
To be continued ...

12:38 am - A world without women.
|
This is why the Internet is diminishing in value for me more and more. Here's a little chat with a friend about the new spectacular friendster right after I bothered to join.
Friend [10:18 PM]: I'm not accepting that testimonial. ME [10:18 PM]: why not Friend [10:18 PM]: because I don't like it. ME [10:19 PM]: oh ME [10:19 PM]: ok Friend [10:19 PM]: i can't pick up bitches if you have shit on there about me liking snakes up my ass. Friend [10:20 PM]: maybe i can. Friend [10:20 PM]: but i don't like those kind of bitches. ME [10:20 PM]: you dont???? ME [10:20 PM]: since when? Friend [10:20 PM]: yesterday. ME [10:20 PM]: oh one day too late then. Friend [10:21 PM]: for someone who "hates this shit", you sure are bulking up on the "friends", sending that shit out. Friend [10:21 PM]: lol
What my friend is refering to here is what I wrote in my profile for the "about me" part I wrote: "I hate this shit!"
ME [10:21 PM]: what do you mean? i hate writing about myself like an application Friend [10:21 PM]: oh. Friend [10:22 PM]: i didn't take it that way. you seemed grumpy, but i read it wrong. ME [10:23 PM]: im wasnt grumpy i just get tired of writing about me like im filling out a resume for friendship and dating. Friend [10:23 PM]: i know bil. you just said that.
So you get the idea, lets skip ahead in the chat?
Friend [10:53 PM]: did you read what i put on mary's testimonials? Friend [10:53 PM]: they're not really funny. ME [10:53 PM]: yeah Friend [10:53 PM]: infact, they suck. Friend [10:53 PM]: but they're stupid past the point of believability. ME [10:55 PM]: that's true ME [10:55 PM]: are we afraid that people will believe things? Friend [10:55 PM]: infact, i think i'm going to delete them. ME [10:55 PM]: why? Friend[10:55 PM]: well, incase you haven't gotten the idea....friendster isn't to keep the same friends you have. Friend [10:55 PM]: it's to attract new ones. ME [10:56 PM]: oh im sorry im using it wrong ME [10:56 PM]: i'll try harder Friend [10:56 PM]: must be dade city. ME [10:57 PM]: why did you use it wrong too? Friend [10:57 PM]: this all coming from a guy who decies to stay home rather than go to old friends' parties because there won't be "new " people there. Friend [10:57 PM]: i guess with the exception of friday, if you go. ME [10:58 PM]: i dont go anywhere unless it's with my friends Friend [10:58 PM]: o....k Friend [10:58 PM]: right. ME [10:58 PM]: ok ME [10:58 PM]: thanks for understanding Friend [10:58 PM]: you told me more than once how you didn't want to go to nick's b/c it'd be te same people and you wanted to meet new people. Friend [10:59 PM]: here's the place to do so. ME [10:59 PM]: it's not a place ME [10:59 PM]: i cant go there Friend [10:59 PM]: i'm sure if this were a video testimonial and mary decided to go about how you're gay, you 'd react much like you did on new year's eve. ME [11:00 PM]: it's another version of online profile dating.... ME [11:00 PM]: i would? ME [11:00 PM]: i set that up for her to do that ME [11:01 PM]: that's why it's "mary is a homosexual" Friend [11:01 PM]: so, why are you being ridiculous and not understnading that i may not want a new potenial friend to think i'm gay.
All right, what my friend and I are talking about is that im not using friendster in the proper way and he is using a specific testimonial that I wrote for a friend of ours as evidence. It keeps going ?
ME [11:02 PM]: All im trying to do is to make this Friendster thing fun for the time being ME [11:02 PM]: for me that is Friend [11:03 PM]: i think what you're doing is being a sore loser. Friend [11:03 PM]: it's like that kid who doesn't try to beat the team he know his team can't beat. ME [11:03 PM]: ive used and paid for online dating things and they didnt work.... no matter how serious i took them Friend [11:03 PM]: exactly!!!! ME [11:04 PM]: yeah exaclty ME [11:04 PM]: that's why i dont take it seriously ME [11:04 PM]: cause these things are silly to me Friend [11:05 PM]: since you don't think this is worth shit, you making fun of it and putting shit on my testmonial and don't understand why i don't like it. it's becuase YOU don't take it serious b/c you don't see a serious chance of meeting some one, where as i've met people on MOC and on this. Friend [11:05 PM]: they wouldn't be silly if you got layed from when you paid. Friend [11:05 PM]: you're the sore loser kid. ME [11:05 PM]: i know others use them and they find friends or dates or whatever... but i didn't and I got sick of it ... now i just want to have fun Friend [11:05 PM]: that's fair. ME [11:06 PM]: i did get sick of it i mean Friend [11:06 PM]: but don't expcet everyone to have your same outlook if they are taking this seriously, because they have had a good success through such services as friendster. ME [11:06 PM]: i see these things as just fun toys ME [11:06 PM]: i wont be mad if you dont except any testormials Friend [11:07 PM]: ok. ME [11:07 PM]: you have the right not to... in fact i knew that you wouldnt ME [11:07 PM]: most likely Friend [11:08 PM]: i don't see why you'd want to put something like that one mine when i made your's look pleasant. i said women need you and that you raise animals to make you look good. not aht you raise hamsters and live at granmas. Friend [11:08 PM]: but it's fun for you, i understnad. ME [11:08 PM]: i said women need you and that you raise animals to make you look good. ??? ME [11:08 PM]: why do women need me? Friend [11:09 PM]: they dont. ME [11:09 PM]: they dont Friend [11:09 PM]: no shit. ME [11:09 PM]: exactly ME [11:09 PM]: i thought that was a joke Friend [11:09 PM]: but if they think they do, they'll more likely take their clothes off for ya. Friend [11:09 PM]: what?!?! Friend [11:09 PM]: no bil. ME [11:09 PM]: what? Friend [11:09 PM]: that was your self esteem kicking in theere. Friend [11:09 PM]: i meant that. ME [11:10 PM]: because you said women need me then they will beleive it? ME [11:10 PM]: my self esteem?
Overall, I believe he was offended by my testimonial that I wrote for him. That's fine I guess. It's his philosophy that the women reading that testimonial will be less interested in him, especially the women he wants, by my words. Fine. Really I never put a lot of stock into the whole internet dating deal, even when I tried it "seriously". You have to understand that Im not desperate either, I don't really believe that my life is here because I must be in relationships with women. Some people live or die based on their relationships to women. Not me. What im looking for in life isnt inbetween some woman's legs or hidden within the interenet. But what it is exactly isnt clear either. I think there's a clue in this quote I read from someone. It's a woman that I can't rememeber her name. "It's NOT women who dream of a world without men, but it's men who dream of world without women." Somewhere in there is the key to a man's happiness. We just don't realize it yet. More and more Im disillusioned with the whole Internet meet and date people moneymaking deal. If it works for people, great! But I don't have that much love for it. It's getting easier and easier to just not use the damn computer and Internet at all. In fact, one day I'm just going to get up from the computer and never look back just like the TV.

5:51 pm - Tomorrow ... first day of the rest of my life.
|
Tomorrow I start school again.
Since last spring I have been debating in my head if I even wanted to go to school again. You see, I was sick of it. I was sick of the school, of the fees, of the speed bumps, the instructors, my roommate and the bullshit. "Why?" Some would ask "would you quit so close to the end?" I dunno. Really, I just wanted to do something else.
But tomorrow I'll go to school and do the bullshit. Maybe I'll feel good about it all when I'm done. I mean when it's ALL done, when I graduate.
I have class tomorrow 11 am - 1250 am. It's going to be one of only two classes I take. Both Art history classes. 19th century art and 20th century art (second time taking 20th).
